Taelarys
#1
Discord ID - Nyghthawke#0804

Previous Characters - Jhasato, Kutara, Marja vonDrakken, and many many more

Character Name - Taelarys

Character Race & Subrace - Muiri Dragon

Alternate Graphic - Gray Dragon; Hue 2875 Edit: Stygian Dragon

Character Description - Strikingly tall, with a lean yet muscular build, Taelarys carries himself with languid ease.  A thick, silky mane hangs loose past his shoulders, shining gold in the sunlight and scented with sandalwood oil.  His features are angular, almost delicate, and he watches his surroundings with dark eyes that, upon closer inspection, are the rich multihued green of malachite stone.  Friendly and amiable, Taelarys seems to constantly bear a charming smile, and his voice is the gentle deep rumble of an approaching thunderstorm.

In his dragon form, he is a massive creature covered in armored golden scales, though his eyes retain their verdant hue.  Small horns protrude along his jawline, from his brow ridges, and down his back; a larger pair sweep back from his skull in an elegant curve.  Large wings normally lie folded against his back, though they often flex and flare with his emotions.

Shard Plotline - TBD.  I specifically made this character without any sort of plan in mind, just to see how the roleplay shapes him.

Special Roleplay Ability - "Human Furnace"  Even in human form, Taelarys puts off a lot of heat.  While generally not painful to others, it is noticeable.

Previous World - 15th Century Earth, or an alternate version thereof

Backstory - Taelarys was raised the son of a minor noble, in a village of little importance.  Growing up, his lessons were littered with sketches of dragons soaring the margins, earning him intimate familiarity with the switch, but punishment did nothing to sate his longing.  For years, he had listened as the humans of his village told tales of the great dragon-slayers of the past, so great that the mighty beasts no longer blocked the sun with their foul shadows, and for years he chuckled to himself at the vanity of humans.  If they only knew that dragons lived among them to this very day, why...but this was his family's greatest secret to keep.

Once, his bloodline had been the scourge of what the humans called England, razing the countryside and taking what was theirs by force of will alone.  Alas, times change, and as humanity grew stronger, the dragons found a new way to exist, by taking human form and living alongside their previous foes.  Of course, most were like his family, supposedly noble, though no one could remember the exact lineage, gathering their tributes from the local population by way of taxes.  Taelarys had lived a comfortable life, surrounded by luxury.  Eventually, the titles held by his father passed to him, though his father yet lived it was easier to avoid suspicion if they maintained human lifespans.  But he remained restless, desperate to once more take draconic form as his ancestors and soar the open skies, wild and unbound.

Unfortunately, even the mighiest dragon families were not immune to the whims of Man, and a great peasant revolt threw his sleepy, unimportant little village into chaos.  As rebelling commoners poured through the breached gates, he, his parents, his siblings, fled into the surrounding forest, swallowed by the night.  They ran for what felt hours, the calls of angry humans filtering through the heavy growth.  Taelarys stumbled, fell; his family kept running.  As the baying of hounds closed in around him, he pressed himself into the hollow of an ancient ash tree, praying to whatever gods might listen that he be brought to safety.

Abruptly, the baying fell silent, and the gentle light of day illuminated Taelarys where he had hidden.  He stepped from the tree, looking around in confusion, for he was no longer in his family's ancestral lands, but someplace altogether different.
