The Sacred August Order of the Black Lion

The knights of the Sacred August Order of the Black Lion are broken up into five ranks:

Rank I: Grand Knight Commander
Rank II: Knight Commander
Rank III: Companion
Rank IV: Knight 1st Class
Rank V: Knight

Upon promotion to the rank of Companion, the knight is awarded their own banner, livery, and  arms. The Companions answer to the Knight Commanders, who number two or more, but never more than five. The Knight Commanders in turn answer directly to the Grand Knight Commander, who also serves as Lord Regent of the Kingdom of Emlyn. While not all members of the Privy Council of Emlyn are necessarily from the Order of the Black Lion, all Knight Commanders are part of this advisory council.
