Building rental Refunds (approved)

Rented the wrong type of building, when disowning it, it deposited a check for 1 gold in my bank instead of the rental amount even though it had been only minutes into the rental.

Same here.
Bought the large shop for 2520 and was refunded 1 g in the form of a check (it's in my bank)

Mith took a look, refunds are looking at the value on the "house" not on the "sign" so someone will have to dig into this more. I'm leaving it as a bug but updating the wiki to warn people.

This actually seems to be working as intended due to the way rent is collected.
There are additional options to rent to own, where partial payments can be made.
Considering that rent for a week is pre-paid, if you demolish the house before the next due day, you are not pro-rated the amount of gold back.
