Tariq ibn Numair al-Andalusi
#1
Discord Id: peachy복숭아#6941
Previous Characters: Kai Baekjung, Varan Smeltmail
Character Name: Tariq ibn Numair al-Andalusi
Character Race & Sub-Race: Aelfeyn; Daeves
Alternate Graphic: Black Gate Daemon
Character Description
When in his glamor Tariq looks most similar to the native born Aldaayiein though much taller than is average among the people. He stands at an easy 6'7" in height and has deeply tanned skin paired with long black hair that is frequently done in complicated braids or other designs. His eyes are so dark to the point it is hard to tell where iris ends and pupil begins, often making those that look him in the eye uncomfortable if otherwise not used to such oddities and depth. He moves with a particular predatory grace and often has either a staff or a kryss at his side. Ancient Andalusian scripture is tattooed deep into his skin from wrist up the arms and both palms are marked with complex circular designs of a clear magical nature. He wears much jewelry at all times, especially a necklace bearing an ankh and a brooch of a heavily jeweled desert scarab.

His true form is often mistaken as a "daemon" though he himself is not. Exceptionally tall and thickly built he appears to be part man, part bull, and part winged beast with skin black as midnight except for strange twisting veins of gold around his arms, neck and bull horns. His wings are similar to a dragon's webbed rather than feathered though great tattered tears rip through them making them ineffective for any flight. He feels like an ancient creature by his presence alone and magic radiates off of him.
Shard Plot Line (Strengths & Weaknesses)
Tariq is an ancient being of true and old magic that originates from the very depths of Andus and its desert with a heavy Sumerian or Mesopotamian lean. He knows the desert better than most anyone and would be a major boon magically to those that need it. His magic resembles that of ancient mediterranean times and while he isn't familiar with the changes of Andus he will be the first to stand as guardian for it. His strengths are in his knowledge, wisdom, and sheer magical capability.

His weaknesses are similar to that of all Aelfeyn with gravesites, and grave dirt can trap him or have a crippling effect on him. Also like all Daeves, the name "Tariq" is a modern construction. He has a true ancient name that has significant binding power over him. He protects it fiercely.
Special Role-play Ability
Living Ink: Tariq has ink-like tattoos of scripture that run from both wrists up his arms past his elbows. On both palms are circular pentacles that seem to change as is needed suggesting the ink that once marked him is now a living embodiment that can be manipluated by him somehow. This is his primary magical focus when doing small acts of magic and larger acts are assisted by these echoed pentacles on his body. The scripture also changes sometimes though it seems much more stable than the pentacles.
Previous World
Tariq is a native of the world.
Backstory
He and his people, the Daeves, have lived in the great desert of Andus since before they called it so. There was a time when the humans and others came into their lands that the Daeves were heralded as Gods and Ilat... He relished in such glory. Maybe it was arrogant he thinks now, but a young Daeva could not help but love the attentions and of being compared to the Gods themselves. He lived well and powerfully, always hungry for glory and knowledge. So he lived. Until the Thorn King's vile ways sank into the pure sands and corrupted the views of so many.

What once were called gods became called Demons. He and his brethren found themselves labeled evil and terrible, hunted like slaughter beasts. The Daeves faced this in different ways. Some became lesser in Ilat's eyes and hid themselves, pretending to be human and breeding with those that would. Some died in arrogant belief they would overcome. Ilat and his kin took to the dunes. Like great gargoyles forgotten by time they all sank into a deep torpor state. The Aelfeyn healing trance but deeper, so deep that it was eventually believed they would not be capable of escaping it. They lived without living, existed without awareness in the most far-reaching depths of the desert. Where only those willing to die would dare travel.

Now he awakens with only a vague idea of the world around him. He does not know how long he has been "gone", only that it has been a very long time. The people of his nation speak differently now but many of the traditions remain. This brings him hope. He chooses for now to hide. How funny as he gave his kin that "assimilated" discredit so long ago. Many do not seem to remember the Daeves except in passing. Maybe for the best until he catches his bearings again. Whatever the case Tariq finds this new world he has woken up to to be equal parts strange and familiar... and he seeks to know the cause of what finally woke him from his slumber.

I do not want to set this as a precident.

I love the concept of the slumber and ancient age.
