Character Description:
Kai is a young man in his early to mid 20s, though it is hard to tell his age precisely. He is average height for a human sort, somewhere around 5'6" or 5'7" (168-170cm). His features are youthlike still and he has a very slender but well-maintained physique that borders almost androgynous with dark eyes and black hair to match. He has a very eastern look with a soft and rounded nose and down-turned monolidded eyes. There is a pronounced freckle on his left cheek near where a dimple would be and a recent small branded scar on his right cheekbone just below his eye. It looks like an odd mix of the symbols ㄴ and ㅅ.
Kai is an imugi which is a small proto-dragon of his world that has not yet earned his place as a true dragon. In his shifted form when it is revealed to him he will be a slender serpentine dragon with short but stout legs with razor-sharp claws. His scales are a pale blue and a mane of soft ivory-white fur runs from head to flat tail. Long whiskers dangle from his very square snout. He's about the size of a large dog in length.
Shard Plot Line (Strengths & Weaknesses):
Kai has always lived under a thumb of sorts and knows absolutely nothing of his potential or his bloodline. He's subservient and submissive but with a strong will to live, survive, and adapt which makes him excellent to be molded by those around him. For better or worse. He is Imugi but does not know it and is on the verge of having that truth about him unlocked. Hopefully he eventually earns the acknowledgement of the Dragons to be gifted his "true" draconic form. But to do that he must embrace his place as a true hero, which is the entire reason he was brought to Sanctuary to begin with.
Special Role-play Ability:
Levitation: Most imugi or eastern dragons did not have wings and if they did they were too small to be the source of flight. Kai is able to levitate only when in his shifted form to achieve a sort of "flight". While swift, it can only be achieved in relatively short bursts before he has to land and take off again, giving him a dramatic "wave-like" look when he is flying.

Kai comes from Suncheon, a fantastical world that resembles Korea during the Joseon dynasty (about 14th century). The Muiri were long ago completely stifled and forced into hiding to the point that those born under the imperial rule were left unaware of their heritage and firmly believed they were just human. Their muiri bloodline has been repressed or locked away to the point that it takes something significant to unveil it.
Backstory:
Kai does not know that he is anything other than "human". Suncheon was once a place of magic like many worlds were but with the rise of the current Empire, magic was snuffed out. No, not snuffed out... those born of magic did not allow that to happen. It was hidden away, so well in fact that it has been all but forgotten, barely an ember left to flicker in the bloodlines of those that once were the definition of magic. Kai comes from one such line, a family of Imugi, of little dragons that were the offspring and cousins of the once mighty dragons that protected the lands of Suncheon.
He was raised on a tale that his ancestors once offended the empire, and for that his whole family was being punished. He, his father, his mother, and their fathers and mothers were deemed "untouchable" and forced into slavery to serve as little puppets and playthings of the Empire. He was no different.
Kai's early life has existed of nothing beyond being told what to do, when to do it, and how long to do it for. The last thing of his life in Suncheon he remembers is receiving the brand now burnt forever on his cheek. He passed out. Or maybe he died? Whatever the case is he remembers the dream of being surrounded by water and pulled forth from its depths. When he awoke, it was in Sanctuary that he found himself.
