Hungry as a Wolf
#1
Draza stalked quietly from the edge of the eastern most building. Her quarry grazed upon the meadow just ahead, unaware of of lurking doom. A low rumble emanated from her twitching belly, forcing a faint grunt from her to still the hunger angrily demanding its tribute. She’d not eaten since before her commune with ancestors upon her home world of Draenor and she was well past the point of eating the dried rations left in her hide pouch.

She needed fresh MEAT.

Edging closer, she watched the beasts. At first arrival, she had been wary of the deformed clefthoofs. They were massively smaller than the ones she knew – dwarven, in fact, in her eyes – and lacked the thick, wooly hair she’d have needed to use to make proper bedding. The only thing staying her hand at that precise moment was the fact that these clefthoofs bore black spots upon their white hide, a warning sign that they might be poisonous.

But she was so hungry.

In a burst of speed, Draza charged into the beasts, bringing down the axe hard upon the first’s neck to incapacitate it, as the other clefthoofs fled. The target let out an anguished “MooOoOOoo” as it dropped to the ground and Draza landed the killing blow.

Blood dripped from her axe and covered her large feet as set to work to dressing the animal. She cut slivers of fresh meat and popped them into her mouth as she carefully removed the most prized organs for a proper home-cooked feast. A few more prime cuts made and she was well on her way to winning the war with hunger.

With the hides stripped from the beast, its meat and organs packed carefully, Draza took her bounty back to her small hovel. The flesh would soon be salted and preserved, the hides stitched for bedding and clothing, and the organs….
