Previous World
Aurelien comes from a Medieval Earth analogue, never traveling far from his village of birth.
Backstory -

Aurelien took a step back from the bellows. After many hours, the heat from the forge was making him light headed. He stepped into the open archway of the workshop, letting the breeze wash over him and cool the skin of his reddened face.

Another day passed working from sun rise to sunset. The same as the day before. And as far back as he could remember. Every day the same.

Entranced by passing clouds, he let his mind unfocus, simply taking in the sensation of the breeze and the sound of wind rustling in the trees. So distracted, he didn't notice the men approaching on horseback until they were nearly on him.

The local lord's bannermen were there to collect their "due". They were early by a month or more. This had happened more and more of late. And why not? Who was there to stop them? Aurelien felt the flush of warmth return to his cheeks, the heat of the forge replaced by anger. Someone had to do something.

The sword was in his hand before he could think about what he was doing. The men turned to face him at the sound of the steel being drawn.

"No."

It was all he could say. Over and over.

"No."

He raised the blade above his head - just like he'd practiced when no one was around to see. The dagger was in his stomach before he could move an inch. The sword fell from his hands and clattered to the floor. In a flash, the tiles of the workshop were slick with his blood.

He stumbled out of the shop. His assailants had already returned to their looting. They knew as well as he that his death was immiment. A few steps more and he crumpled against the trunk of a tree. With great pain and effort, he pulled himself into a sitting position against it. His eyes closed and blackness closed in.

His eyes opened at the sound of the man's voice. "The battle is lost, my son."

A hand was outstretched in front of him. He took it, and was wrenched back to his feet.

"The battle is lost, but the war yet remains. You have steel inside of you - we just need to draw it out. Will you follow me?"

Aurelien nodded silently, and turned to face his destiny.

Contrary to popular belief, the wings of demons are the same as the wings of angels, although they're often better groomed.

I really liked your story. Smile

Just to clarify, he would be demi-human.

Approved.
