Character Description
Adirianoch is a towering silver dragon. While he is every bit as regal and statuesque as most dragons, his argent hide bears no small number of scars and scratches, evidence of a life that frequently put him in harm’s way. From the top of his head to the tip of his serpentine tail he sports a spined frill that has likewise been made imperfect through hardship. He remains proud, though, horned head held high as he surveys the world with a stern stare. This mien remains true in his lesser form, that of an athletic humanoid male. The shape is vaguely Aelfeyn in construction and every bit as stately as his true visage.

Shard Plot Line
Adirianoch comes from a plane where his kind considered themselves the custodians and caretakers of the world. In pursuit of this role they frequently felt it necessary to intervene in the affairs of the humanoid races, sometimes by force. Despite the setbacks he has encountered this righteous mentality remains a foundational part of his personality and one he is liable to act on no matter what world he finds himself on.

Previous World
Arach

Backstory
Arach has always been watched over by the dragons. Since they dawn of time they have claimed domain over the land, the skies, and the seas. Sometimes they ruled, be they benevolent leaders or harsh tyrants. Sometimes they guided, enlightened sages and cunning masterminds. No matter what shape their influence took the creatures of Arach knew that once and always, there would be the dragons.

Or so it seemed. The humanoid races of Arach were many, and over the millennia they became many more. The world overflowed with them; civilizations rose and fell and rose again, eternally emerging from the ashes of their predecessors and becoming more than what they had been. They peopled every remote corner of the earth, they changed the face of the land through ingenuity and cataclysm, they created gods from the very ether. And after a time the long-lived dragons found themselves to be few amongst the many.

Arach was changing, that was inevitable and only the most foolhardy denied it. But Arach was also surely dying. The strain of the lesser races was too much for Arach to bear and if left unchecked they would reduce it to an ash from which nothing would ever emerge again. And so it was that the dragons rallied what creatures and civilizations they could to their side. Not all paid heed to the watchers of Arach, though, and it came to pass that the dragons engaged in not their first, but perhaps their greatest wars. Generations of lesser races knew only strife, but so too did the dragons come to understand their own failings. They were few and the enemies were many, armed with new magics and technologies and gods the dragons were ill-prepared to contend with. For the first time in the history of their race the dragons faced a struggle where victory was not certain.

The story of Adirianoch is but a scant few centuries in the history of Arach. He has known triumph and he has known defeat. He has known fulfillment and he has known discontent. He has walked amongst and spoken with and fought with and against the many lesser races of Arach.

And so suddenly he has been removed from all of it. Transported away from Arach by the malign rituals of his foes, he finds himself in Sanctuary. He thinks it poorly named, for the convergence that is taking place before his eyes is something he has seen before. He only hopes that this time it is not too late.

Contrary to popular belief, the wings of demons are the same as the wings of angels, although they're often better groomed.
