According to the website stealth is supposed to work as it states here...

However, I currently have 79.7 stealth and can only go 8 steps before I need to pass another stealth check. The chart in that link says I should be able to do 14 steps until my next stealth check... 16 when I hit 80.

I am basing the fact that I'm coming across checks on the ninth step because I am getting the message "You begin to move quietly."

I have tested this wearing only clothing... no armor. I walked the steps and did not attempt to run. I checked it multiple times in a row and consistently did a check on my ninth step. I think this is a bug, but maybe I am reading the information on the link above incorrect.

I just noticed that page also says you can begin learning stealth at 30 hiding, so the figures may all be off.

I think what they mean by that Nir is that not that you can stealth at 30 hiding but that you would not be able to start out with stealth as a skill—you would first need to have 30 hiding to train the skill via NPC.

You cannot learn or
use this skill until you have at least 30 in Hiding.
Because of this, you cannot select it as a starting
skill.

But honestly, who knows anymore. I was hoping other players could offer some input because I don't remember if in past shards we had this many checks... I don't think so, but I'm not sure.
