Character Change - Nanja Kettunen
#1
Discord: Morde#0476

Previous Characters: Sahja Khouri, Sylise, Tekla, etc.

This is a character change from Eiko Ozaki to Nanja Kettunen.

Race: Aelfyn/Native-Alfarian

Alternate Graphic: None

Physical Characteristics: Early-40s. A height of seven feet and one inch, grey and blonde hair, pale skin, and ice blue eyes, one possessing a slight milkiness. Beneath the layers of robes is a lean frame of deceptively strong muscle. A square-shaped face appears, at first glance, to be critical and stern. Yet, only when she speaks does the austerity of her visage melt with a warming voice. An umber-colored tattoo decorates her right forearm.

Character Kingdom: Miðrvegr

Special RP Ability: Nanja’s closest companion is a large brown owl to whom she seems to have an unspoken link.

Shard Plot-Line: She is a brooding sort and spends much of her days pouring over manuscripts, tomes, and books to eek out new concepts in which to enrich her people and kingdom.

Strengths: Loyal and compassionate.

Weaknesses: Strongly convicted.

Previous World: None/Native

Story: The fire roared in the night, illuminating the main room brilliantly and providing comfort in the late hours. Nanja was keen to finish transcribing the last few pages of the treatise she had found before retiring to bed. Though not as exciting a read as she would have liked, the treatise of agriculture was at least informative and potentially could prove helpful - certainly, at least, the section devoted to animal husbandry.

From an adjoining room, she heard the shuffle of small feet, a tired yawn, and the mewling of a child’s voice for its mother. She gave a lengthy pause, waiting in case the child would go back to sleep on his own. When the voice turned to muffled sobbing, Nanja rose, casting her eyes towards the frail woman sleeping amidst the furs at the hearth and entered the bedroom of the anguished cries.

The boy was no older than three but his tears were genuine. She opened her arms to the toddler and let him nestle against her chest, placing a warm hand to his back to comfort and console. The child cried himself to sleep, coaxed by the warmth of Nanja’s care. Before she knew it, she, too, was fast asleep.

At dawn, the familiar sound of a softly hooting owl came from the window, stirring her awake. Thankfully, the child slept soundly, undisturbed by the visitor. Nanja took her leave of the house, only briefly, whereupon the beast alighted on her shoulder. Her head turned slightly and cast downward, she listened with anticipation behind a stoic face.

A heavy sigh escaped as she said quietly, “Then he lives. Go, my friend, see his way home. His wife and son need him.” The brown owl flew off towards its task and Nanja retreated inside to prepare medicines and breakfast.
