Backstory
Akel as most called her although her given name is Akeldama (field of blood) watched as the sky got darker and the air got colder, something was amiss with the normal harmonious land she lived in.
Something still wasn't right months later when the trees and plants started to wither and the birds stopped singing.
Akel was out hunting, although these days it was harder and harder to find something substantial to satisfy her hunger, when she noticed the cracks. Small cracks it seemed had begun to form in the earth's surface. As she ventured into the now sparse forest with its few brown dying trees and the yellowing grass her stead came to a halt it would venture no further. Akel dismounted and continued on foot as she went bigger cracks had formed in the earth.
Was that a rabbit, she saw out her hazel eyes, it was. Akel stood for a moment as she watched the rabbit scratch an itch on its ear, then with the speed of light she ran and pounced. She sank her teeth into the animal as it squealed in pain but this did not bother Akel she was relishing in the taste, that taste that is tinged with a hint iron, sucking as hard as she could to get the last drop out. Akel dropped the now flaccid rabbit on the floor and wiped the droplets of blood from the corners of her mouth. That would satisfy her for the time being but she would try and feed again later in the day.
That time never came, not in Eppidore.
Akel made her way back to her lodgings, her steed had bolted to god knows where and the ground started shaking and making terrible rumbling noises. As she arrived at the outskirts of her township she had an eery feeling, walking through towards her lodgings she noticed more cracks, as she turned the corner into the street where her lodgings were, there was none. No townsfolk, no buildings, no nothing except a rather large crack, no this was more of a hole and it seemed to have swallowed the buildings and everything else that had once existed on the street where she lodged.
That was the last straw she had to leave, she didn't know where to but she knew that things were getting worse in Eppidore. Akel made her way to the dock, using her stealth and agility she boarded a ship unseen, she huddled in the hull and survived on the blood of the rodents that infested the ship. How long she had been in there she was unsure but eventually, the ship came to a halt. Using all the strength she could muster Akel disembarked the ship unseen, on to the wooden boards of the docks of Summer Isle.
