One Citizen's Response - Cele - 09-10-2019

Rin made his way through the streets of Evervale, pale skin covered in a thin layer of grime from a long day in the mine. As he stepped into the crafting area something caught his eye. Hanging with the other fliers and posters advertising different wares and requests was an ostentatious black parchment. Moving closer to inspect it his expression soured into a scowl.

Who were these men to declare themselves above all others, including the gods? What business was it of theirs who the people worshiped? And as if asking people to throw their friends and neighbors under the wagon wasn’t enough, they added the additional insult of bribing them with a payoff for information that lead to a conviction. Was this what this world was coming to? No wonder the Divine were calling heroes to this realm. The air stank of corruption.

Without another thought he reached up, tearing the parchment from its nail on the wall and shredding it into pieces. Though part of him wished to leave the destroyed document as a message, he instead deposited the bits of paper into the waste bin like a responsible adult.

Every fire required a spark and maybe if others saw that people were willing to take a stand they would find their courage as well.
