Wings and Grasslands - Cele - 11-21-2020 Everyone knew that Sylphes could be flighty creatures; figuratively and literally. Nova was no exception and was perhaps even more so than others of her kin. For near a year she had worked her fingers to the bone in the Wonderarium and attention of that magnitude was draining for such a small fae. She hadn’t meant to be gone for so long, not really. Jhasato would sometimes ride out to the plains for a few days of solitude, as was his way, and he was not one to deny her such freedom. A few days away from the shop and the town, amongst the late summer breezes and afternoon storms. The first day or two went as expected but on the third evening a small party crossed her path. They wore bright clothes and carried musical instruments and claimed to be part of a traveling circus. Nova was taken with them and they, in turn, were taken with her. Or, perhaps more truthfully, took her. They suggested and then insisted that she come with them. She simply MUST meet the ringmaster and see the show. A lovely gilded cage filled with silken pillows was provided as they assured her the journey was far too long for her wings, what with the extra weight she was carrying around her middle, and she would be safe from any bandits who might try to make of her easy prey. It seemed very reasonable. She was, afterall, a Khaleesi. Didn’t she deserve such treatment? As the days turned to night and the first frosts of fall decorated the grasses, they seemed no closer to their destination but every stop they made coins changed hands and strangers came to peer at her and her sumptuous travel accommodations. Really, she had become quite bored and missed her mate. They wouldn’t listen though. Didn’t she want to stay with them? They took care of all her needs! Not wanting to see the disappointment on their faces she waited until the new moon before casting the spell that would return her to Evervale. The cage wasn’t even enchanted, silly people. The dust of travel had hardly settled before a lovely lady, who was not a sheep despite the Ba’s in her name, swept her off Summer Isle and to a place she said was safe. Nova was most troubled to hear what had been happening in her absence, even moreso that the bank had the audacity to revoke her lease on the shop! Something needed to be done but she was so tired. When Jhas found her she was relieved; not that Baba Sorina was poor company but the little Sylph had much to consider and her head was still drowsy. With a promise to meet again she let herself be carried back to Andus. Everything else could wait until another day. |
